Mentoring Plus Girls' Group get creative.

Last night Fashion & Fairytale took over the Mentoring Plus Girls' Group session as part of an exciting project that will culminate in a Fashion Show & Fundraising Auction in aid of the charity on 9th July 2020.

Mentoring Plus is a local charity which supports young people facing significant challenges by connecting them with their community through an award winning mentoring scheme and inspiring activities programme.

Ahead of our exciting sustainable shopping expedition in half term, the fabulous Rachel P Blake introduced the concept of responsible and considered fashion and the girls learned a little about the role the fashion industry plays on our environment.

Then the cutting and sticking began; using generous donations from VV Rouleaux and a box full of fashion magazines, the girls created mood boards of the styles, textures and colours that inspired them most. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and indivuality shining through; right down to matching hair, makeup and nail colours.

Our workshop takeovers will continue through to February 2020 and thanks to the award winning talents of Jacky Puzey and Emma Reichenbach, will culminate in the girls upcycling, recycling and personalising preloved clothes to make an outfit that they will be proud to wear on the catwalk at the Assembly Rooms in July next year.

We could not do this project without the love and support of the following Bath preloved stores: Save the Children, Mercy in Action, Dorothy House, Shaw Trust, Oxfam, Julian House and Cancer Research; all of whom are generously donating clothing to the Girls' Group.

We'll post regular updates on the Girls' progress over the next few months, and tickets for the hottest fashion show in town will be available to purchase in 2020.

If you'd like to get involved, sponsor or donate prizes for the auction, then please get in touch.
