Introducing the first of our partners...

Updated: Sep 25, 2019

Founded in 2009 when a love of crafting turned into a business dream, founder, Kate has taken The Makery from strength to strength. Her passion for upcycling, reducing waste and inspiring others to breathe life and beauty into their tired furnishings has led to over 100,000 clients who now possess the skills and confidence to repurpose their belongings.

Not just a mission statement, the company's ethos radiates from their London concession in John Lewis, Oxford Street, from its free-cycled and beautified furniture, and from the palpable enthusiasm of The Makery staff. With workshops ranging from lampshade making, brush lettering and embroidery to floristry, Beeswax wrap making and dressmaking, there is something for any budding crafter or absolute novice.

Knowing of Kate's passion for sustainable buying, we knew The Makery would be a perfect partner. As soon as we told Kate all about Fashion and Fairytale, she immediately understood what we wanted to create here in Bath and North East Somerset. Her generosity and bountiful ideas have enabled us to leap every hurdle and we can't wait to see how our partnership impacts on our local community.

Not only have the The Makery pledged fabulous prizes for our design competition winners, but her team will be running some fabulous workshops over the next 12 months.
